Yes. With sensible 5000-mile oil changes you probably would not have had to, but now that oil changes are being stretched to as much as 20,000 miles, some drivers are having to add so much oil to their engines as top-ups that it amounts to the equivalent of three or four oil changes in 20,000 miles.
