Has the previous owner invalidated the warranty?
Just bought an ex-contract X-Trail June 11 registered with quite a high mileage (24,200).
The contractee didn't have a service done until 17,000 odd miles, even though the service interval is 12.500. To get back to parity, I would have expected the garage to have done a service before sale. This would fall within the conditions of the warranty wouldn't it? However they are saying the next service is not due until 29.000ish miles (17,000+12,500). In your opinion would this negate the warranty?
Should I demand a service FOC? Have I got a leg to stand on?
Yes. Disqualifies the warranty. Contact Nissan via a Nissan dealer and see of there is any way you can get it back.
Additional: One of the Nissan PR team got in touch to clarify the situation. Nissan should still honour warranty claims for failures unrelated to the service schedule.
Claims attributed to tired oil might not be honoured, but if a door hinge or something else unrelated to the service schedule failed, Nissan would likely still honour the claim.
