Service schedules are normally given in intervals both as time period and a distance, so one year/10,000 miles for example. Some cars need their first service after a shorter time period, but after this point the interval is usually the same and the given time period/mileage is from the previous service, whichever interval is reached first. This allows for both high and low mileage drivers.
