Should I service my car annually or based on mileage?
I have purchased a Toyota Yaris Hybrid which is covered by manufacturer's warranty of 10yrs/100,000miles, if the car is serviced every 10,000 miles. As I do a high mileage, 10,000 miles occurs every 7 months. I am wondering whether to ignore manufacturer's warranty and to service the vehicle annually instead? Can you please advise what mileage you consider my vehicle should be serviced? I expect my annual mileage to be 16,000 miles.
Generally speaking service intervals are given as a mileage and timescale, such as 10,000 miles/12 months, with the guidance that the service is carried out whichever milestone is reached first. This is to allow for high and low mileage drivers. We would recommend that your service the vehicle every 10,000 miles to ensure your vehicle is kept in the best condition, and you would need to do so in order to meet the conditions of the warranty.
