Humble service
My January 2008 BMW 325 is due its first service check. Under BMW’s “conditioned-based servicing” I understand this is just an oil and filter change. The local dealership wants to charge £233 for this, which they say takes between 1 and 1.5 hours. If I go to another garage or mobile mechanic (which I believe I can do these days) and so long as they used approved parts, will they be able to access the car’s computer to confirm the work is done and re-set the computer and turn off the service light?
No. You will also miss out on any 'technical service updates' that would be carried out to your car and its software during a BMW dealer service.
