Pole fault
I have a 2006 VW Polo Sport 1.9TDI so it is now 4 years old and has done 18,000 miles. It is about to go in for its annual service and MOT and the garage is recommending changing the cambelt. Is this really necessary? The car is used daily for local running and the occasional longer journey. It is serviced regularly by the VW dealership. We have had a number of VWs in the past and the recommendation was to change the cambelt at 60,000 miles and I always did this. I realise that age is important as well as mileage. Am I being stupid to ignore the garage advice?
VW now recommends this and I'm obviously not going to contradict that recommendation because if I did and the belt came off you would blame me.
