My Honda Jazz is specified to be serviced every 12,500 miles. After 5 years from new, there is only 13,600 on the clock, and my annual mileage is nowadays more like 1,250. The car is normally used between 1 and 3 times per week. According to the dealer/servicer, the car should have its annual service irrespective of mileage - but then he would say that, wouldn't he? What is your advice?
I say that too. Your kind of mileage is the worst because it implies a
life of short runs from cold starts. Not only will the engine rarely get to operating temperature, but a one-mile short run from cold can involve more steering, braking and declutching than 100 miles on the motorway. As well as changing the oil the mechanic will make vital safety checks that could save your life.
