How often should a MINI Cooper be serviced?

I am considering buying a 2017 MINI Cooper, however, I'm concerned about the service history which the seller describes as 'full-service history'. The car is low mileage at 9500 miles and had the first service at 8500 miles when it was two years old. Is this adequate?
Unfortunately, if you buy into the MINI TCL service package you get minimum servicing. My view is that every car needs an oil and filter change at least every year or every 10,000 miles. A low mileage MINI on TLC will only get a service every two years, so if you buy a three year TLC service package that effectively pays for just one service. So it does have a "full-service history", but in my view an inadequate one.
