Will the long term maintenance on hybrid and/or electric cars have a higher repair cost compared to current petrol or diesel cars due to the different components needed?
Electric cars have much fewer moving parts than petrols or diesels so there's less to go wrong. There are less fluids too - so very little servicing and maintenance is required. Even the brakes are used less (due to the retarding action of the electric motor) so you won't need to replace the brake pads as often. Batteries will degrade over time but they should last the lifespan of the average car without needing replacing. Obviously a hybrid still has a petrol or diesel engine so will need servicing like a combustion-engined car.
