MKG 3000, Strawberry Hill

We have two Volvos, and have had them serviced at MKG for the last couple of years. The garage is manned by David Morley, who has always been difficult to deal with but who was so difficult and rude today that I cancelled the annual service I had booked the previous week and walked out. David Morley specialises in sullen passive aggression. Avoid.

Absolute crooks! We have used them over the past 5 years and each time we took our car for a service (my wife has been taking the car) I was slightly suspicious about some of the items that were claimed to be wrong. The final straw that broke the camel's back was this year when the garage failed our MOT because of a very small issue that was quoted to my wife at £300-£400 to rectify. When she told them that we were going to take the car back and have it MOTed somewhere else they came back and said they were able to "clean" a few components and it's fine now! One other item that is highly suspicious to me is the MOT booking. When my wife booked our car for an MOT they automatically got her to sign a piece of paper on bringing the car in and then later said she had signed a contract to have it serviced so we couldn't pull out. I would like to warn anyone considering using these guys.

I have been using this garage for over 8 years for my much loved 1998 Volvo V90. This garage specialises in Volvo (and Subaru) servicing, and is a recognised Volvo service agent. However, it does not charge Volvo main dealership prices. Frankly, I have never been more impressed by a garage; they never surprise you with unexpected costs, and are professional down to a 't' - but more than that, they take the time to talk to you, to explain the whys and wherefores in straighforward language without bundling you out of the door as quickly as possible like so many garages do. I cannot recommend this company highly enough - even if I had something much newer and more expensive, I will always go back to them. A rare and much appreciated gem of a garage. Also, it's right next door to Strawberry Hill station, so 25 mins to Clapham Junction and 35 to Waterloo - perfect!
