Dear HJ My Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 D GS4 (NA58 UAL) has just crossed 200,000 miles. I had it since 10,000 miles and in that time, bar consumables, I have had only a single alternator changed. Part of that is the type of driving I do; 50 miles each way on motorways from Redhill to Brighton and back. The other part is on-time servicing by KSM Autoclinic (also picture attached). This is a family run business started by Kevin (Sean) Murray whose core business ideals are transparency, value-for-money, honesty and service. I can’t recommend them highly enough. They are always completely transparent about pricing, always try to save me money and when I have been in a pickle they have come out without batting an eyelid. They have kept my Mitsubishi going, running reliably and a pleasure to drive for the eight years I have had it. The number of times they have dealt with awkward issues without demur, to the point when I am sure they were at best breaking even. I know for a fact that they replaced some shock absorbers which leaked after I think 11 month – they replaced them without question, swallowing the labour cost (parts cost would presumably have been recouped from supplier) even though I wanted to split the bill (since I had had nearly a year out of the failed shocks). Garages like this need our commendation and support and I offer my wholehearted recommendation to them. Ref my Mitsubishi – is 200,000 miles on the VW diesel engine anything special? Was this engine affected by the emissions wobble that VW had (for some reason I think it’s a VW diesel engine) Should I keep it going or change it now? What should I be looking at? Its on original clutch and everything else that one might have expected to fail by now. I have been taking my various cars and motorhomes to KSM for many years, and have never found fault with them, or their work. KSM is a friendly, family run establishment that provides real quality service, and a friendly smile. I would recommend them highly.
