In October my Vauxhall Signum went in for MOT and service, additionally there was a problem with the Cruise Control dropping out on a regular basis. MOT and service were completed with no problem, and they had diagnosed the cruise control problem as a faulty switch, which would cost £180 to repair. I said this was a bit steep and to leave it, then was advised there would be a £45 diagnosis fee for this, which I would have to pay in any event, so asked them to proceed with the repairs. The parts were not available, so would have to rebook the car in, which was done some 3 weeks later. The car had a new cruise control switch fitted, but then the same fault reappeared very shortly afterwards. I rang them and rebooked the car in. I was then told that the switch was fine, and that further diagnosis was now required to find the fault, and was given an estimate of £270, just for the diagnosis work! They even tried to charge me further fees for diagnosis, which were not charged, after my remonstrations with them. My bone of contention remains, that I was charged a £45 diagnosis fee and £135 for fitting a new cruise control switch, where this was not needed. I am £180 out of pocket, and am in exactly the same situation as I was before the MOT/Service was undertaken.
