My wife and I bought a MB E220CDi Avantgarde on a 58 plate 2nd hand from the main MB dealer in Shrewsbury last November. It's now due a major service, and MOT, for which the garage is quoting an eye-watering £840. Our intention was to have it serviced in due course at an independent specialist, but to have one 'official' service done at the main dealers. My question is would I be better off going straight to the indie? Would this have an adverse effect on resale value come the time (we intend to keep it for at least 5 years) I'm assuming the main dealer has a duty to give us the service history records in a portable manner?
