Is Ford's wet belt system fit for purpose?

Why does Ford not do something about its wet belt system. My daughter's Fiesta's recommended change mileage is between 100,000 & 140,000 miles however due to her belt shredding and blocking the oil pump she now needs a reconditioned engine and her mileage is only 67,000.
You can read our guide to wet belt engines here - www.honestjohn.co.uk/advice/owning-advice/wet-belt/ - and Ford as one of the manufacturers of engines with wet belt engines offered assistance to some owners affected by the issue if their vehicle had been serviced by a Ford garage in line with the recommended service intervals. They also changed the design of the EcoBoost engine so that mild hybrid versions built from around 2019 onwards were fitted with a timing chain rather than a wet timing belt.
