Are there any issues in buying a car that was stored for three years?
I am interested in buying a used low mileage diesel BMW. The previous owner was abroad for three years and kept the car in a garage untouched. He then had it serviced and it seems to have been driven with no issues for another 3000 miles. Do you think this will have caused any issues long term as the oil may have degraded? If so, what kinds of issues might occur?
When you say that the car has been serviced, it would depend on what was the actual service. Was this done by a BMW garage? If so we would assume that the car would have been checked and all necessary oils, filters, brake fluids etc would have been checked /replaced as necessary. Given that the car has now done 3000 miles since that service we would consider that there should not be any further concerns.
