So my MOT was due in a couple of days and I booked in to get it tested. I dropped the car off and afterward I was advised that the car had failed on front brake pads. At the time I was given a price of £190 and I repeated that back and that was agreed. After a few days I called back to book in for the work to be completed and a retest. During the call when I booked in, I mentioned that I had read online that I had a month. He said that that was wrong and I had 2 weeks. He actually worked out the date for me and I said that I could drop the car off that day. The day came round and I got the work done and I thought I had also had a retest done like I had asked for. It wasn’t until I got the car back and later on that night I realised that I hadn’t had a certificate to say the car had passed. So the next day I rang the garage and asked about the certificate. I was then told that I hadn’t asked for a retest when I rang up earlier in the week. I told the guy on the phone that I definitely did ask for a retest because when I asked about the price of the work and the retest I was given the same price and I asked how much the retest is on top. I was told that because they are carrying out the work the retest was included. Whoever I was speaking to on the phone kept talking over me while I was getting that explanation out. I asked if he could stop while I finish explaining my side. He went on to change the discussion altogether that the date would be past the 10 working days allowed for a retest anyway. I told him that when I initially called to book in I was well within the 10 working days and that I had actually had a conversation with whoever I was speaking with at the time, about how I had read on the internet that I had a month but the guy who booked me in simply corrected me with “2 weeks” (not 10 working days). The guy on the phone that took my booking for the works and retest worked out the date to be okay for me to have the retest completed. So to have the second guy tell me that I didn’t ask for a retest and also I had booked it in too late was an insult too far after I had acted on their advice the whole time. I would expect the garage to offer a full test or partial test (whatever is required) for free after arguing with me over the phone about it for 6 minutes. After misleading me to believe that was car was legal to drive and had passed its MOT and after now costing me the price of another MOT test.

I have been using this garage for many years. m.o.t. repairs to a lot of the cars I have owned .they have always done a good job,at a fair price . If the car failed an m.o.t. they phone me ,give me a price and usually fix it there and then. I would recommend this garage to every one .
