I put my car in to this dealership as it has recently opened and is closer to me than their Wallisdown dealership that I used to use, for a routine service. While they had the car they called to say the rear brakes were binding on. They had to be dismantled, greased and reassembled. I asked how long they would last if that was done. The service adviser said it shouldn't need doing for years. So I asked why they needed doing now, when the Wallisdown branch did it at last years service. His reply was "I don't know what to say". He then went on to try and convince me that I needed new brake pads and discs all round despite the fact that they were renewed barely 10000 miles ago. He also said there was an oil leak from the timing chain cover and quoted £645 for a new air conditioning condenser. I collected the car without having the work done as I was a bit suspicious. Subsequent inspection in an MOT centre revealed that the brake pads and discs "look like new" in the words of the MOT inspector and that the rear brakes weren't binding on. They also couldn't find evidence of an oil leak or any need for a new condenser. I have driven nothing but Toyota cars for 30 years. mainly for their reliability but also because the dealers have always been open and honest. This is the first time a Toyota dealer has claimed that work needs doing when it quite obviously didn't. How many people would have just believed what they said and handed over the money?
