Webb's Garage, Wells

I always use Webbs and I will always use them as they always do an amazing job on my car.

We have been using Webbs for over 12 years now. We have a fleet of vehicles and as their slogan says Webbs keeps us on the road. Not many proper garages like this left anymore. Highly recommended.

After another local garage had incorrectly fitted my window regulator on my Vauxhall Agila these guys sorted it. They had cut the connectors off and made a right mess. Webbs advised to go back as the work hadnt been done that long ago but i had lost all faith with the other garage. Cheap is not cheap, id rather pay more and get the job done properly.

Incredibly poor customer experience, I ended up taking my car back with work incomplete as I didn’t want to give this garage any more of my money on principle. I try to be patient and understanding as I feel most people are busy and just trying their best to get on, but unfortunately this approach just got me screwed over and put to the bottom of the pile at this garage. I was very clearly low priority and kept waiting for “more urgent” work that came in.

This garage will sell faulty vehicles and decline responsibility by advising the cars are sold under an alternate trading name, to the garage repair trader.

Thanks Webbs ! We bought our new car from these guys and feel we should correct the bad review left. We have used Webbs for years and were interested in buying one of Webbs old loan cars. A lovely low mileage Nissan Note. They had another customer who had expressed an interest in "looking" at the car. This person had left no deposit and hadnt asked for the car to be reserved. As soon as we arrived onsite to view the car there was a very rude man saying he was buying the car. In his what seemed desperate haste for us not to have the car he tried paying for the car on his credit card which was declined. Webbs explained that he would have to pay either cash or preferably bank transfer as it was apparent there were insufficient funds in his account. My husband and i told Webbs we would buy the car and we purchased it immediately. The very rude man got very aggressive telling Webbs to expect bad reviews, he was asked to leave the site otherwise the Police would be called. Everyone who knows Webbs will know how good this garage is.

Clutch went whilst towing my horse box. Webbs recovered me and towed me back. Very professional and they fully explained all works. Bill was as quoted. Will be using this garage from now on.

having agreed the day before to test drive and purchase a car that the garage had for sale, I arrived in Wells and telephoned the garage to let them know that I would be on time. I was told everything was fine and that someone would meet me at the car at the agreed time. The car was then removed for the site in front of me only to be sold to someone else

After using these guys for years and seeing the last review I feel we must stand up and support our local garage. Looking at the last review it appears this isn’t a true reflection on the workmanship but infact a scorned woman trying to exercise her woman’s rights (rolling eyes) the comments of a valued female bla bla. I don’t know any garage that would allow a customer to “get the diesel out”of their own car on site. Surely the insurance and health and safety would have something to say about that ??? Also I had the same issue with my Jaguar where my injectors were suspected to be faulty and they spent an extra hour doing other checks including a leak off check and found that the fuel pump was over pressurising the system and had we put new injectors in the pressure would have blown the crystals in the injectors voiding any warranty on them. So infact that extra hour on my car saved me hundreds ! Especially after AA told me the big ends had gone ! So their diagnosis was way off. Webbs were meticulous and always offer a great honest service ??

I was recommended to use Webbs by my brother in law who said they had a good reputation (now we realise this was from before they were taken over). My run around jaguar seized in Bristol and I had the AA take it to Webbs in Wells. I asked them for a diagnostics of the fault and 2 hours later they phoned me to say it was the injectors and would cost £950 +VAT to fix but also they then could not guarantee further problems with replacing both injectors at more cost. I said straight away there was no point and would scrap it. They said they could scrap it for £50 and I queried that as I know you can get allot more, the owner said yes but the scrap dealer would charge to pick it up, this way I wouldn't be charged, after discussing it (as I've never know a scrap man to charge for pick up?) he eventually said Ok maybe £70. I also mentioned I would get my brother in law to come and drain the tank of diesel as I'd literally just filled up £75 worth, he had said Ok no problem. When I arrived to pay the bill I was charged for 3 hours work. I asked why the extra hour and was told the mechanics had kept working on it after the phone call when I had said I'd scrap it? I asked why and he said to make sure. Then he said it would be £198 for the work, less the £50 for scrap (not 70) so £148. I was really not happy and felt totally conned, I know they didn't spend a further hour working on a car deemed for scrap and even if they did - I didn't agree to it, why would I? I also know that my daughters car (a Golf) half the size of my Jag was recently scrapped for £130 and they picked it up for no charge - surprise... My brother in law then went to give him my V5 and get the diesel out of the Jag, the owner said he would charge £45 for draining the tank! What should have been a quite simple write off for £120 max and paid for by the cost of scrapping the car has actually cost me £353!! I felt patronised throughout the whole ordeal as if I where some silly woman who didn't 'get it'. In senior management for considerable years, I actually 'get' quite allot of issues raised by providing services and receiving them. Please do not use this garage - even more so if you are a valued female.

Dear John, I feel the need to praise a garage for its unbelievable work and patience over Xmas. My wife and I broke down on the dreaded A303 one Friday night before Xmas, when our Smart car engine blew up with a spark-plug disintegrating into the engine, despite having done only 44,000 miles! We were piggy-backed by the RAC to our destination in Wells by 10.30 that night. A note through the door of the RAC recommended garage, said that I would ring them the next week to discuss the car's future. The phone called with a young mechanic called Daniel, led to a computer analysis of damage and the decision to do pretty much an engine re-build of head, rings, valves, chain etc for just £1200 including labour, was also accompanied by the offer by him to come into the garage at any time when it was closed to enable us to travel down from Reigate to pick up the car - plus all parts affected by the plug-blow laid out on a bench to show the damaged caused by the incident! Such service in this day an age, was much appreciated over the 3 week process and if you ever have the misfortune to break down in Wells, you are in very good hands!! Martin and Lucy Russell
