I had Corolla, now a Yaris. I had a very minor shunt in the Corolla when a Jag backed into me while I was stationary. We both got out, looked, saw no apparent damage and parted friends. Then later I found that I could not open the boot by the cabin release. When I went for a Toyota Garage service I asked if it could be fixed, after much sucking of tooth and saying the boot liner would have to come out it would cost c£100, a second Toyota Garage said ditto. I didn't bother. When I transferred to TECH-ONE I asked them to have a look at it and not spend much money - it wasn't that important. They did it, no charge, I asked how. 'Just a tap with a hammer.' They also found that the pollen filter had not been changed, certainly not in a recent service, if ever. TECH-ONE is the place for me now.
