Regularly maintained 09 Fiesta went in for annual service - got call during the day telling me I needed aircon re charge, about £70, replacement front discs and pads - at 50% worn!, replace engine coolant, about £30, engine coolant flush, about £30 - very pushy up-selling. Not at all convinced any of that needed to be done. Had elected to have brake fluid replaced. A few days later my pupil - I'm a driving instructor - complained the brake felt funny. Short story > we had to pull over, pedal went down to the floow. Got breakdown service out, late pm - too late for garage to do anything. Manager and mechanic came round next day, checked it out, got it to ashington, repaired etc. All ok. BUT - a brake nipple hadn't been tightened properly and the fluid was just squirting out. Really, really dangerous. I'd gone through 'Servicing Stop' to book service. They were horrified, apologetic, gave me discount on a future service, refunded the brake fluid element of the service. I got no follow-up from Richard Hardie at all. No apology, no email, no letter. No offer of compensation to cover my lost lessons. Really poor.
