Losing pressure in a tyre. Noticed sharp thorn in sidewall. Pulled thorn out and assumed this to be the cause of loss of pressure.Thought tyre would need to be vulcanised or maybe new tyre, if vulcanising not advisable on side wall. Took car in to Lightfoots. They said it was only a leaky valve. New valve fitted. Cost £5 all in. Superb honest advice and service. At other establishments I am sure that I might have ended up purchasing a new tyre that was not needed. Highly recommended.

The cambelt recently failed on my 1985 mk1 Micra. Fortunately, the engine was idling at the time and the only damage was found to be just one bent exhaust valve. Having taken the head off myself to diagnose the problem I took the car to Lightfoots garage to have everything reassembled, which included a head re-skim, new cambelt, a new set of head bolts, a tune-up and an MOT all for less than £300 including VAT. The car is running better than ever considering it's over 25 years old and, all being well, I'll have at least another year's use out of my vintage Micra. I am extremely pleased with the service I received from Lightfoots Garage for this job and other work I have had done in the past!I have also learnt that it's important to change the cambelt either every 5 years or 50000 miles whichever comes sooner. In my case, the car had done less than 10000 miles since the last cambelt change but this was 10 years ago!
