My car went in with a very obvious issue with the brakes (they wouldn’t stop and vibrated at the pedal even at idle) They couldn’t find anything wrong but instead made more work by changing the head gasket, killing a crank pulley, a turbo, a gearbox, a bumper and various other parts. The only good thing was they accepted credit card and the credit card company has accepted liability and covered the £6k bill to get it back on the road 19 months after it went in.

This garage is a Bosch/VAG agency and also prepares cars for racing. I have taken both a newish family car and an elderly kit car to them over several years, and the service has always been timely, knowledgeable and reasonably priced. Probably because of their competition work, they understand machinery as well as diagnostics and can tackle less common jobs such as reaming bushes. They take a little finding but are worth the trouble.
