5 years ago an engine light came on - I took it to my local Honda garage and they tested the car and found no fault. £60 IIRC but they said the car required a list of repairs including bushes on suspension, suspension arms etc new condenser on AC new disks & pads on front, pads on rear rheostat switch on fan small chips on bonnet needed attention I had owned the car from new and had had it serviced by the supplying Honda dealer+ a local Indie for 18 months. It was at this point about 4.5 yrs old and some 85K miles. the car was worth say £2500 T/I and the total repair bills were nearly £2000. I complained as I had the car checked by a local Indie who said nothing was required other than the fan switch (£50+) fitted. The Honda dealer principal said it was their opinion. I sought a 3rd opinion - Honda UK. I wrote to Honda UK who had the car examined @ an Edinburgh dealer, no charge to me Honda UK paid. They spotted the rheostat and suggested 2 x tyres in the medium term - nothing else to worry about. I replaced 2 x tyres, kept the car for another 12 months with no repairs/ brakes , disks etc perfectly OK - as was AC after topping up with gas @ £50. Car sold and replaced with a Nissan, that is after 3 brilliant reliable Hondas in the previous 12 years - why not a Honda CRV? X-trail has been brilliant as is the local Nissan dealer SDM who have serviced the car - no repairs need in 4.5 years other than wiper blades and servicing.
