I have had the pleasure of dealing with Mbs in Exeter on serveral occasions now, the first time the roof failed after I had purchased my clk 200 sport convertible Mercedes. They fixed this and then did a full service to ensure that I could put some miles on her, car is running brilliantly now, thank you ! They have also fixed the automatic headlamp adjusters for me and finally after some diagnostics they have fixed my heater system as a sensor in the roof had failed and it was blowing out only very hot air. Pete’s knowledge when it comes to clks is just the best ! When the roof failed Dan and his colleague told me not to worry as Pete had worked on clks for years and would figure out the issue, this reassured me. Well this is the same as for the heating. I am so impressed with their care and attention in keeping my old Mercedes on the road. Thank you, recommend them, for their services, knowledge and support and for a family run business they do a great job, well done Dan, Oli and Pete - many thanks Matt

"Not professional, very rude with no respect"

I took my porsche in for a lambda sensor issue, after I was told the car was good to go even though it was taken for a 25 mile test drive was still not resolved then I was quoted hundreds more pounds for another issue that should have been fixed in the first place instead of being given the go ahead to pick up my porsche and paying £700. They didn't even have the decency of offering a courtesy car and not a single word of apology

So I have an old Mercedes E55 AMG which I look after myself. I'm the guy who wrote the one star review at the bottom of this list of reviews In that case they diagnosed and replaced an EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch) when it turned out to be the key, so they cost me £1000 when it could have been £275 A few years later I had an alternator drive belt snap the severed a gearbox oil cooler pipe causing my gearbox to lose all it's fluid. Amazingly I didn't know the gearbox pipe was severed as the broken belt also broke the power steering pump and I thought that's where the fluid had come from. So have fixed that myself I drove the car and it lost all drive and had to be recovered I though the gearbox would be toast. So I looked at buying a secondhand one and rang MBS for a quote on fitting one. They said: Don't be so hasty, replace the pipe (£70 from Mercedes-Benz) refill the transmission and see if it works. It did. They fixed my car for free. I bought the best Whiskey I could and took it down there to the tech I spoke to! I also (after that) had a starter motor fitted by them as I didn't have the time or space and that was totally fine My car also got driven into and they sorted out the steering and suspension, I did the paint and body. They weren't cheap but they did it right And lastly just a few weeks ago my indicators stopped working with the engine running although everything else was OK. I asked them to do some diag using their dealer level equipment. They told me there were no fault codes and that my issue was likely the EIS or key - What? That again?! I was quite annoyed and very skeptical. The tech came out and spoke to me and told everything worked without the accessory drive belt fitted so I got suspicious it was the alternator. I tested it and it was delivering over a volt more than it should have been replacing that fixed it So all in all MBS have been an essential part of me keeping my car running. They will fix your car but stay sharp, dear customer! I think they may be better than they used to be and on balance I'll actually give them five stars Their current receptionist is really professional and knowledgeable

"A very friendly and professional outfit who explained what needed fixing and agreed a plan with me as to how to proceed."

I had bought a used SLK in January and it needed a wheel speed sensor so I took it to MBS. I took advantage of their inspection service (as I had just bought the car) for peace of mind. As well as the sensor there were quite a lot of things picked up but they took me through the list and line by line explained the best course of action. They have the Mercedes Star diagnostics which isn't cheap but now I have the peace of mind driving a car where (hopefully) everything is okay. 6 months later and everything is still fine. Additionally Alison was excellent in getting a warranty claim on the interior lighting that failed shortly after picking up the car so all in all very happy. I dread to think what all that work would have cost at the Main Dealer. Would very much recommend.

"Owner is rude, hostile, and incompetent and my car went on a 7 mile journey somewhere!!"

2 minutes ago Awful experience that left me in tears. I dared to ask about the fault that the garage were saying it had. And the owner was incredibly evasive I never really got to the bottom of it. And I mentioned that no one contacted me to say it failed mot but started diagnostics on it with out asking me or telling me it had failed. Plus Sam on the desk had said that some one had just got back with my car. I asked the owner if it had been taken to a test station he got very hostile and raised his voice saying the car had not left the garage. But it's been some where as the 7 miles on it tell me it has when I picked it up! After i asked for the diagnostic codes the owner became very defensive and agitated and said "tell you what just pick up your car and we wont charge you for the diagnostics test. As your clearly not happy!" I thought all garages noted down the codes for the customer in case they decided to take thier car elsewhere. I was left very upset at being spoken to in such a way when I was just trying to find out the exact problem, which was being quoted as hundreds of pounds to fix. Approx £800 so yes I shall ask questions. It felt as if they couldn't or wouldn't give me a straight answer. Why? And that as a woman taking my car in that I had no right to ask questions. And it clearly offended the owner. Never again would I use them or reccomend them.

Checked car in for MOT and front rattle. MBS diagnosed a broken spring and also identified a rear tyre problem. They phoned within an hour of dropping off the car with the bad news. The work was all completed within the morning at a reasonable cost. I still use the main dealer for annual servicing (to maintain the Mercedes service record) but would recommend MBS for repairs etc.

"Professional, competent and courteous. "

Reading the only review on this garage I had to check it was about the same garage. I have been using MBS since 2008, well before they moved to their present premises on the Marsh Barton estate in Exeter. I have always been impressed with the level of service I, and more importantly, my elderly Mercedes and BMW cars have received. I avoid main dealers because of the cost and back street garages because of the service they provide. MBS seems to me to be the best compromise between service and cost. They are certainly not cheap, and you don't get the perks like a courtesy car, etc that come with a main dealer, but they seem to me to offer main dealer standards of care in servicing the cars at a significantly lower cost. Every member of staff I have ever dealt with has been polite and anxious to do a good job. When the cars are returned to me after a service my bank account is poorer but the cars are running almost like new.

My car (1998 Mercedes E55 AMG) developed a fault with the electronic steering lock, ignition switch or key MBS Exeter diagnosed the electronic ignition switch When this arrived they then rang me and told me my key 'would not program' So I needed a new key too I grew suspicious when I was required to believe that the key and the switch had both died at precisely the same time. I was also doubtful about their competence as non functioning key should have been easy to diagnose So I requested I could have the old parts. Turns out that the key was very obviously utterly broken and their appears to be nothing wrong with the switch Their approach tripled my bill To add insult to injury I noticed superficial damage to my car which was not there when I left the car. They argued with me about this although I wasn't even asking them to do anything I then found they had not programmed my steering, which I also complained about and they had to sort out. They sorted out the damage too at this time After getting my old key tested I contacted them with the news and they have just made excuses justifying themselves I have sine found my mirrors that dip when reverse is selected are also not working, but I'm just sick of MBS and their incompetence and excuses
