"Avoid Avoid Avoid "

Avoid Avoid Avoid very bad company or should I say workers Ben & Craig who says he was the owner. Booked my Mercedes in for a diognostic check after code flagged up showing exhaust gas temperature sensor code P242B. I explained that the error code had been cleared and was told no problem we will still be able to locate the fault. From dropping the car off must have been less than 30 minutes they called me saying that the 4 tyre pressure sensors needed batteries at £400. I said and what about the exhaust sensor it was booked in for to which he said I know nothing about any exhaust sensor. He then became arguementive saying that I had not told them that the error code had been cleared and demanded the diognistic fee at £91.20. I said I shouldn't be paying for a diognostic check I did not book it in for and would have to pay twice being the next time the error code appears not to erase but let them do another diognostic check. I asked to speak to the owner as it was clear that Ben was getting very irate and I was passed to Craig Lund who was equally as arguementive as Ben and said he was the owner with Thomas Kennedy. My arguement was if you knew I had cleared the error code and that your diognostic equipment could not detect the fault without the fault showing on the dash then you should not have booked the car in until the fault appeared on the dash and then booked It in. Anyway he basically called me a lier saying I never told him that the error code had been cleared which he would have known anyway when switching on the engine and seeing no warning on the dash so he would have known not to do the diognostic check. Also in all the time I have owned the car never has a warning appeared on the dash regarding faulty tyre pressures and if such was not showing on the dash why would he put his diognistic machine on when there was nothing to diognose and would the tyre sensor fault show if not showing on dash and no fault code flagged up. It seems to me and this is echoed in other negative reviews that they invent work at high cost to pass such onto the customer to line there pockets. After collecting the car I took to a local garage who confirmed that there was no fault with the tyre pressure sensors. Take your car anywhere but to this company who would not know the truth if it hit them in the face. They are untrrustable conmen and are all at it together.

"Disappointing service, do not recommend"

I took my SL to Mastertech Assist for a B service. Initial communication was good although it became clear that the price quoted did not include all items that were due on my car such as brake fluid; I was told they check the car when you take it in for additional items, but since it was 2 years since the last B service new brake fluid was required so they re-quoted to include it and I decided to go ahead. It's nice to know up front what you'll be paying. When I got the car home I checked the oil level and was shocked to find it was way over the maximum level and up to the wire part of the dipstick. 1.6L of oil had to be extracted to get it to the correct level and I didn't drive the car during the interim period. When I checked the invoice I noticed that the oil used was not as per Mercedes spec for my 2009 petrol engine - a low ash oil was used which is only of benefit to diesel engine cars with a DPF. For older models the rule of thumb is to use the grade of oil Mercedes recommended when the car was in production and according to Mercedes' BeVo website the oil used was not the recommended spec. It's unclear whether the brake fluid was actually changed as the colour seemed a bit darker than new fluid would normally be. I have checked the before and after fluid and it appears to be identical in colour. Whilst the mileage was extremely low since the last change and the brake fluid potentially ok (no moisture) it was 2 years old so I wanted it changed as per Mercedes' recommendation. I was later assured it had been changed and was given the brand name (which incidentally does not appear to be one that meets Mercedes' MB331.0 spec). As someone else reported, I'm not sure if the car got the 50 point check over either as they didn't provide any kind of report to say it had been done. I understand from reading other reviews it is meant to go further than the Mercedes 37 point check but it would be nice to know what was checked. I requested details of what was checked but have not received any information. I was informed the washer fluid reservoir had a small leak but since getting the car home I have found no evidence of a leak over the last few weeks (the car is garaged so I would notice any leak). Mastertech replied to my first email and said the oil level was fine when they checked it but when I asked for their thoughts on how the level could have gone up so much after driving the car home and for further clarification on some of the other points above, they did not reply (I sent the second email 2 weeks ago). I'm very disappointed and would not recommend this company . I will be looking for a more reliable and honest garage going forward.

If you have a mercedes and don't want to pay through your nose, this garage is the place, £50/hour, courtesy car if required or they will pick up and drop off the car, I have had my car looked after by them for 4 years and they haven't given me any cause to criticize them, everything has been on point even thought I have to travel 35 miles to their garage in Droylsden, Manchester.
