I pull into the car park at 5:30pm on a Friday evening with a near-dead battery, having had to be pushed off the ferry. I was checking to see whether they worked on Saturdays (they don't). But a lady from the office on her way home spotted me in the car park, and asked if she could help. I explained I needed a new battery in my 10 year old Insignia. She re-opened the office, checked the spares and found me a battery. I asked her how difficult it would be to fit, intending to try to do it myself with the help of local friends. She said there was still a mechanic there tidying up and she would ask him. A minute later she told me to bring the car round the back. Twenty minutes later - new battery fitted and car purring once again. This saved my holiday. They wouldn't even accept anything for the labour, just the battery cost! Unbelievable to do all that for a visitor on a Friday night after closing time! I can't believe garages like this still exist! Wonderful people - wonderful island.
