Had one small fault, not expensive to repair - Done on warranty. 3 days latter one major fault costing a few hundred quid. Mr Langman himself wanted me to pay? I refused and court action is now pending. Car not drive-able which mean i can't get to work! (Had to borrow a car from family until its sorted). If you get a good car then all is good, but forget about the warrenty because if its only a few quid he will pay, anything more he will fob you off with Bull. My advice is stay away!

*** CAUTION! - DO NOT USE THIS DEALER **** Please read!! I had been hunting for a specific car for a while and finally found it at Longmans. Within my price range too. I live 90 miles away from the Trowbridge but it was the car a was after. These guys are very helpful. On driving home I had a warning message, then another... omg I thought! I brought a bag a nails. On arriving home I called them. Did what they said and got the car plugged in at a local garage to check the fault codes. Once the fault was identified instead of me travelling back to get the repairs done they paid the local garage directly. Wow, great customer service!. However, all is not good. More mechanical faults appeared a week later. Under the so called "3 Months warranty on all cars" I called them up. My local garage quoted £870 for the repairs but Mr Dodgy car dealer said "Thats mostly labour costs so bring it in we can do it half the price". I did. Only to be told I have to "Contribute half" But not half the 450 half the 900 they was was going to charge me!. yer as if. Anyway I was given a car to use for the 3 days. OMG! I Found out when i got home the car had NO TAX!. Panicking I checked the the insurance ... NO INSURANCE!! (luckily i could drive it on my own policy!). Mr Langman's reply was "It is taxed (not - DVLA even confirmed this to me) AND the insurance is my responsibility?, nice to have actually been told that when i took the loan car!!!. Well, when i got the call that the vehicle was ready i went to collect. The best thing to do is not use this place! the warranty means nothing. Mr Langmans quote "We can charge if we want to". ** STAY AWAY! **

"Independent Examination revealed the vehicle sold to me to be "unsafe to drive""
By Anonymous, 7 December 2017

I purchased a 5yr old Alfa Mito from Langmans for my son. During the test the only obvious issue was that there was a lot of vibration through the steering column. As it was well overdue a service, which was included in the sale, I believed it was most likely something like worn bushes. I was assured that an investigation would be carried out and relevant repairs would be completed. This was included in the contract of sale. I picked the vehicle up and after driving a short distance it was obvious this work had not been done and the vehicle was actually worse than when I had had the test drive. As I was not in a position to return due to commitments and also that I live some distance away, I rang the garage owner from the outskirts of Trowbridge. He apologised profusely and told me to take it to my local garage and get them to assess what was wrong. By the time I got home there was a strong stench of diesel and also smoke coming from under the bonnet (subsequently found to be an extensive fuel leak). I took it straight to my local garage and left it with them. They later carried out a partial inspection and I was horrified by the results. Their view was that not only was it not fit for purpose, requiring numerous quite expensive repairs but also that it was unsafe to be driven. On speaking with the owner, he was extremely defensive, accusing the local garage of "scaremongering". I had the vehicle towed back to Langmans and under my consumer rights demanded a full refund. He refused to pay for the inspection, he had advised me to have completed, because I refused to keep the defective vehicle. He is liable for this cost under the relevant consumer legislation. When I advised him I would pursue him through the Courts for this if necessary, he became extremely unpleasant. He told me he would counter sue me for the storage costs and valet on my sons part exchange and even threatened to ensure my sons car, which was now on the highway, would get a parking ticket within the hour! He then threatened to withhold the return of my refund unless I agreed not to pursue the matter. I was already well aware he had absolutely no right to do this, or the other actions he was threatening, so I only responded that I wanted my money back. I did then get the return of the purchase price but nothing else. I have made a full complaint to Trading Standards.

"Will not purchase from Langmans again"

I had originally posted a positive review but now retract it. We returned a Jeep to him while under warranty with rear brakes needing attention {smoking/binding}. He said he 'supervised the checking of brakes and calipers and confirmed they were serviceable' A while later while undergoing a major service our local garage discovered worn out rear brake discs with 'disintergrating' brake pads, with absolutely NO EVIDENCE they had been attended to at all on that day when we returned it to him. Also our local JEEP dealer Vospers in Exeter informed us of an outstanding Safety recall notice {air bag} against our Jeep which we didnt know anything about. Surely as a car dealer selling cars you would check these things out before selling. We will never go back to him ever again - in our opinion and experience it appears his word and warranty mean nothing. Chris Chapman

Hi, I bought a Suzuki Swift from Langmans in March 2017 (sorry for the delay!) and I was very impressed with the service I received. There were a few scratches on the paintwork and alloys, however, included in the price Richard Langman arranged to have a new respray to make my car look as good as new again. The company also provided me with a free MOT and I was able to trade my previous car in with no hassle. I would definitely recommend Langmans! Thank you :)

I bought my daughter her first car from here after having bought cars previously from Mr Langman for the family. Three purchases later and I will definitely be visiting here again for my fourth purchase when the time comes. Mr Langman has a helpful, successful business and he will always do that little bit extra. When our last car went in for repair he offered us a loan car so there was no inconvenience and the service was carried out very quickly. I couldn't find this sort of value for money anywhere else. I am very happy to give Mr Langman my business and would recommend this garage to anyone looking for a new car.

"Sold a Land Rover subject to fire risk recall, car caught fire"
By Anonymous, 24 April 2017

I have had six cars from this dealer over the years so I have an element of trust and I respect the owner however this is now being stretched. In January he sold me a £7500 Land Rover Discovery. That car last week caught fire and was destroyed. The cause of the fire ? A recall was outstanding for the fuel pump that could cause fuel to leak and catch fire. The recall date ? 2009. At no point did Langmans check that the car they were selling was subject to safety recalls. Refusal to refund at this time, Trading Standards horrified and court action now threatened - lets see what happens.

We bought a Cherokee Jeep from Langmans dealership , drove well no issues going home to Plymouth. On a trip up to London as we got to London brake calipers stickin/overheating. On way back we stopped by and left Jeep with them to fix. All sorted under warranty as they have their own garage services there. Great service plus they gave good price on our part exchange Mk2 Mondeo. We would thorougly recommend them. Cheers, Mr C Chapman

brought a car June 2015, have had countless faults which needed repairing, told the car was fine. Given countless of opportunities to repair and 10th time in the garage still not sorted. Refused a refund completely. Trading standards are now investigating and solicitor combined to get a full refund. Completely unprofessional, rude and to be honest they don't know what they are doing. Would never recommend to anyone at all!!

Langmans sold us a total lemon and it took 6 months and finally court action to get our money back. They rely on the customer to find (or hopefully not find) faults on the cars and then make attempts to fix them. In our case they couldn't fix the faults, but wouldn't give us a refund either. They refused all our rights under the Sale of goods act and we had to take them to small claims court to get our money back.

"A Personal and Efficient Service from the Owner, Richard Langman, "
By Anonymous, 16 October 2012

I have used this garage for many years. It is a a sole owner business and his main mechanic has been there for many years and his assistant for nearly as many. I am a pensioner now (but wasn't when I began going there), and have bought several cars from the firm which have been looked after efficiently and helpfully without my ever being ripped off. I have recommended several people to buy cars there and none has been disappointed. The after care is brilliant. Helpfulness is Richard Langman's second name. He goes that extra mile and a half willingly. I would happily recommend this garage to anyone wanting a personal service where you know where each penny is spent. No hidden extras.
