It was on a routine visit to Sheffield that I noticed a nail in the car's tyre. We searched on the internet for the nearest available garage and came across Holbrook Tyres and Exhausts. Fortunately, they were able to do the repair immediately but it was the quality of service that I found astonishing. The wheel was removed, the wheel nut were cleaned and the tyre repaired. The wheel was then replaced with the care lavished on a Japanese tea ceremony: each nut was tightened by hand; the wheel placement was constantly checked; the nuts were correctly torqued. It was the furthest from the service you'd received one of the national chains of tyre and exhaust centres that you could imagine. The only downside to the whole experience was the shame I felt in not lavishing the same care and attention whenever I've needed to change a wheel myself. Incidentally, the price for the repair was £14.40 including VAT. I'd have paid £14.40 just for the tuition!
