I have used this garage for around 20 years and have always found them honest and reliable. I would not hesitate to recommend this garage to family and friends and have done so on many occasions previously. Dropped off a Virago for some work over three months ago. Duncan F Mackinnon – owner and “bike mechanic” - decided to dinghy the work and disappear to France for that duration without notifying anyone, taking any calls or responding to messages. Straight to voicemail. Three months of what was an amazing summer without the bike - locked up in his garage. Finally got a hold of Duncan at his house next door on a chance visit a few weeks ago. Apologises profusely, says he’s been away, his phone is acting up, that it’ll be fixed in a week. He then disappears again – without communication of his actions. His phone, like the motorbike, are obviously low priorities to get fixed. Checked in with the working mechanic who said he knows Duncan has taken a look at the bike because he was asking for a second opinion on a part. The bike was left stripped. He then adds he doesn’t have a clue where he’s disappeared to this time or when he’ll be back. This mechanic very kindly offered to look it over, despite admitting limited knowledge on motorcycle maintenance, and rebuilt it for us so it could be transferred to another garage. Just over three Summer months and there has been zero progress on the bike at all – all down to the shocking level of communication, arrogance and incompetence from the resident “bike mechanic” and garage owner Duncan F Mackinnon.

Over the years I've used this garage with either my classic motorcycles or my classic car. They have been consistently helpful, efficient and cost effective. They have a good skills base so can tackle almost any type of job. They have always shown the utmost integrity in dealing with myself and any other customer that I've spoken to who has also used this garage. With my modern car, I've used this garage to buy tyres, they are able to quote very competitive prices indeed, I've bought my tyres from here for 20 years or so now. They can quote for any brand, but are dealers in Vredetsteins which are otherwise unavailable locally. As they are a recovery service provider, and MOT Station, booking is required with sometimes a long lead-in time, it depends on the level of operations pressure. They have an excellent reputation locally, and also have strong links with the local branch of the VMCC. I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for a classic car job.

I have used this garage over the years for MOTs and work on my classic motorcycles and a classic car. They are very versatile and will do most repair jobs and routine servicing if required. I've found them to be extremely honest and conscientious. They are also very competitive with their prices on tyres and batteries, even against major outlets such as Kwikfit. They do what they promise.
