Evans Halshaw, Old Trafford . Ford

I bought my car from this garage. After some while I became worried about a knocking noise when using the clutch, driving or stationary when th engine was running. I suspect I interrupted a lunch as he was in such a rush to get on with a road test. He sped off like a teenager in his first car. I had to ask why he was doing that. No answer but he went on to say he could not hear anything. I took over and drew his attention to the knock each time. No he said, got out on return and left me standing there. Final comment " you must be hearing things" Later I went to a small garage. What a difference. A test drive and no charge. He heard the knock every time but suspected it was the tolerances in the gearbox. Whatever, he put me at ease. Amazing really. In the first instance I had been to Evans Halshaw in Altrincham. Likewise, and with no surprise, they could not hear it either .. Very poor customer service
