"Not a decent place anymore"

Just visited Deepcut Garage. My car has „failed” with „major defect” clause due to… Headlight lamp too low”. Now, I have been driving my own cars since 1993 and had tens of MOT checks done on them. Any time the lamp beam was aimed incorrectly all decent garages would adjust it with a phillips screwdriver over a 60 seconds procedure and in the WORST case scenario would add a PRS - „Passed after Rectification at Station”. Deepcut Garage in Mytchett is not one of the decent garages where this is practiced. Instead, they propose that you leave your car for a „repair”. Looks like this tactic is working well for the owner and his Porsche looks very shiny. Diclaimer: I would definitely NOT mind paying an additional £10 for an on-the-spot beam aim rectification, which as I mentioned takes seconds to do and get my car’s pass the MOT. I have been going there for a few years with at least 6 cars for servicing and MOT’s - every year there’s a different receptionist, so they don’t know you and you don’t know them. It’s not a place where you’ll be welcomed by a familiar face and you are not a familiar cutomer to them. Never going there again, nor recommend it to any of you. There’s plenty of DECENT garages around.

"Awful customer support from the management team. "

After 17 years of good service (on several of our previous cars) at Deepcut Garage, Mytchett, we’ve been extremely disappointed with the management response to work that was carried out on our family car. I booked my estate in for an engine issue (warning light for low oil pressure). Having phoned ahead, the garage team were confident that they had the expertise to check the vehicle over. Unfortunately, and inexplicably, the vehicle was put on an engine test at over 3000 RPM, which caused catastrophic damage to the engine, likely due to a blocked oil filter and oil starvation. The estate (102k, 2 careful owners), which had a full-service history and recent MOT, was reduced to scrap value. My advice to those considering using Deepcut garage is think carefully before doing so, whilst a standard MOT or service will be fine, I’d recommend a different independent local garage or main dealer for any engine faults. Worst of all, has been the complete lack of customer support from the management to a previously loyal customer – just prevarication, excuses and a block process via their insurer (Aviva) which refuses (ongoing for 3 months) to agree costs. On the upside my cycling has improved!
