"Looks nice like a honey baited trap, you might miss the danger you're in until it's too late."

These mechanics are very capable but after many years of going there I suspect they're trying to destroy your engine, then doing a great job on brakes and everything else. They clamp the radiator hoses, there is an impression on the rubber hoses where they've stopped coolant flowing into or out of the radiator, (the hoses are flat when you check them afterwards) then they hammer the engine like a Rally Car, the oil burns off and when you get it back and open the bonnet it's like you just opened your oven at home after cooking a steak pie for half an hour, it is burning hot, the metal of the bonnet support cannot be touched without using a glove and the oil is low with a grinding sound upon startup alerting you to the reality that these lovely people are really your worst enemies in the world. Your car needs to be turned off and always carry a reserve bottle of the correct oil and the correct coolant. Top up the sump and let your engine cool off then fill up the coolant before driving off. Don't complain to them because Andy has an evil, angry, terrible side to his personality and you're asking for trouble to complain, more often the little coward goes away before you come in and isn't available. They seem great, everybody thinks they're the best but they really aren't worth the paper they're printed on. £120 to change an old filament type sidelight bulb, minimum £100 flat fee for an hour's work plus the bulb part and V.A.T. So changing a bulb incurs the £100 labor fee, wow! They used to be priced better but Andy was playing Golf all the time and when told to come back to keep quality of servicing up, he'd become greedy and boastful of how much he could charge. He started demanding the maximum price he could command. Before that Frank had been the main man and although pricing was good, he was uncaring and harsh about the customer's needs. When the prices skyrocketed the service didn't improve, all the old things you get five stars for were mercilessly stripped away. Today the work is often good but they're just destroying your engine and have added doors so that the customer cannot see them working on their car, it used to be better but they idle your car engine all the time it is in the shed, and won't modify their rule for cars vulnerable to that operation that is against the law of the land with engines not built now to be stationary engines, they overheat but the temperatures reached suggest out and out malice and ill will, covered up by very good deeds in other areas of servicing.

Good Points

They can do great work, it's warm, you can sit on a nice padded bench, it's close to home, receptionists are decent

Bad Points

The owner Andy is evil, his gaffer Frank is worse and the receptionist Dale hides his bad side under a decent act.

I have taken advantage of the reduced price MOT inspection for three years. The MOT examiner is thorough and, in the event of a fail, is happy to demonstrate and discuss the identified issue. Following a repair carried out off the premises the re-test was completed without charge and at the agreed time. I have no difficulty recommending C & A Autocentre

The MOT inspection was offered at a discounted £30. The car failed on one item and the MOT inspector invited me to view the car and the nature of the problem. After taking the car away for repair, I was not charged the partial re-test fee on my return a few days later. I have used C & A for two years now and will continue to do so.
