Buyrite Tyres, Newton Abbot

Our car's revs were fluctuating and later on was coming to a stop on its own. We approached Buyrite Tyres who said they do not work on engines and so recommended Autodoc, both in Newton Abbot. Autodoc said the work would take two days but the car was ready in one. They fitted the car in, upon recommendation. They replaced the inlet manifold gasket and the air-intake valve. The problem of fluctuating revs and intermittent stopping of the engine was fixed. However...when leaving the garage there was a new clanking sound amongst eight other new problems, some very serious: - Power has gone when driving uphill and in higher gears - The clutch, new within a couple of years, is now at times sticky in first-gear - A clanging sound, which apparently was a new exhaust in requirement of replacing - A swaying to the car as if slightly unbalanced - The backseat doesn't go down - The windscreen-wiper was clanging and needed a new screw - The front windscreen is letting in moisture and so probably cracked Between the revs (before the car would come to a stop, which was later on) fluctuating, the car would drive okay for a couple of weeks and it was a beautiful drive and our previous garage commented on how nice the engine was. ...and so instead of treating myself like a mug and returning to Autodoc I went back to Buyrite (who had recommended them, as said above). Buyrite apparently couldn't get the car up on a ramp in that moment but rattling the exhaust the person at the desk said that the problem was probably the need for a new exhaust and from a further check the exhaust had rust on it and was nearly hanging off. They said they could fit us in and if we left the car overnight then the car could be worked on sooner than normal when the part arrived. We said we could bring it in at 9am but when ringing at mid-day the part was only to arrive at mid-day and so I couldn't see why the need was to have the car into the garage at 9am and neither the question relating to leaving it overnight at the garage. A new exhaust was then fitted but after that a new sound appeared yet again when going over speed-bumps and was told by Buyrite it is probably the suspension. They are not accredited garages and so are not answerable to the Motoring Ombudsman. I did put my concerns into writing, to Buyrite, who are yet to make answer and I even noted in full that the car is an emergency vehicle which is used to pick up my mother from places and run her around and who has ongoing 'mental health' concerns and this hasn't apparently stirred any sense of conscience. I also wrote a letter to sue, to Autodoc, and have been in receipt of no reply and to them I also described the importance of the vehicle.

After an online quote for two new tyres I turned up without having to book and in under 20mins I had two new tyres fitted. No unexpected costs or upsetting. Honest and friendly local service.

I have been using Buyrite Tyres for around 2 years now, they have services my car(s) in that time and provided very honest advice on tyres (ie I dont need any just yet). Friendly, reliable, and highly recommended.
