Lost service book
Several months ago I booked my Honda Civic Diesel ES in for a service at my local Honda dealership (which has full Service history - mostly Honda) and left my service book with them. When I went to collect the car they could not locate the servic book and they later admitted it has been lost or given to another customer. They then offer to get me a replacement book, but said not having it wouldn't affect the value anyway. After insisting the service history was important to me I offered to provide them with a list of services I could find from the invoices. After two months of waiting and chasing they then presented me with a half completed book saying that the earlier services ( which were Honda) could not be located and therefore can not get the book stamped. The car was sold as approved used car after the missing services so am sure these were complete. Obviously I am not happy with this situation as I no longer have a car with full service history. What do you suggest should be my next steps and what value do you think I have lost on the vehicle
You can therefore demand that they either buy the car from you for the full Glass's Guide Hi grade trade value or they compensate you £1000 which is the value of the lost service history.
