Some drivers appear to struggle with the absence of the sensation of 'going through the gears', but I love it. This car encourages you to anticipate the road ahead and not worry about what gear you are in. the CVT transmission is supremely smooth. I make extensive use of the engine brake for wonderfully smooth braking instead of the brake pedal - just flick the "gear stick" in and out of mode.

At just over 6ft 2in I need head room and there is plenty for those in the front seats. (And more than in the Auris.)

I have the 15 in wheels which means I don't have to pay the London C-charge. My best round-trip mpg is 73, I get at least 60 driving in and around London and driving back from Scotland, doing 70 mph true (c.73 indicated) whenever the traffic and law allowed, I got back on 60 mph.

The car is quiet and comfortable at any speed up to c. 80 mph and handles well.

My version has cruise control, climate control, reversing screen, rear and front bleeper warnings, and the light and wipers come on automatically. Not bad for a 'bumper car' as some colleagues call it. Oh, and I like the large, single wiper on the front windscreen.

I have now done 16,500 miles in the car. I am impressed. My complaint is with the absence of a CD player.
