Overall reliability

Good reliable comfortable transport.

I wrote a review in October 2012. Reported some jerking on the overrun whilst on cruise control when the vehicle exceeded the set speed, it is still exactly the same. Also very indifferent steering whilst in a straight line on motor ways, the steering is strangely very stiff and moves in tiny little ratchet type amounts. Only in a straight line, corners and handles perfectly otherwise. Have seen many reports of this on various Hyundai owners forums, world wide. Seems very responsive to different tyre pressures too. Had one electric window operating switch fail, changed under warranty. Absolutely no other failures at all, very reliable car. Still looks very good, paintwork etc. very good indeed. Inside is hardly worn, no kids, no dogs !, every single thing still works correctly. Now done 55,000kms, I live in Spain, of mixed driving. I record fuel used and it has averaged the equivalent of 55.5 miles per gallon in that time. Never uses any oil etc between annual services. Basically a very good car and I would buy another.
Like others I have found Hyundai to be not very helpful with at all, the Spanish head office never replies to queries at all, the lack of service is a downside.I was fortunate to find a helpful dealer, not the one I bought it from though. The did not want to know about any queries at all. Pity. BRIAN WILLIAMSON.

Feb. 2020. Actually still have this car, the longest I have ever kept one. Still very happy with it, the steering has now freed off and it steers well at all times. Changed the tyres and road noise increased. Absolutely no problems with it, very reliable , it seems the more I use it the better it gets. Genuine 55 mpg. as I record all fuel used. Paintwork and interior still excellent. If I do change it will be another i30 for me.
