Providing your're not looking for hot hatch performance a very relaxing, smooth drive, if not particularly economical

The first thing to note is that we bought this car in May 2012, at a dealer, with just over 20k miles, in excellent condition, for absolute peanuts. They suffer appalling depreciation in their first couple of years and then make a very reasonable second-hand buy.
If you'd asked me what the fuel consumption was like in the first 18 months I'd have said poor, we averaged around 28. Then we started to suffer with hesitant starting in cold weather, took the car into the garage, and whatever they did not only cured the starting problem but instantly raised the average fuel consumption to around 32. That being said the Scenic is not an economical car for town driving, although the automatic gearing makes it pleasant and effortless.
Although the car will perform (0-60 in just under 11 seconds) hard driving brings out the strange CVT noises that car reviewers traditionally comment on. However, keep the revs below 4,000 and you are rewarded with an exceptionally quiet, relaxing, smooth drive.
The car has lots of cubby holes and with the (rather heavy) rear seats removed turns into a veritable van. It has been an absolute god-send moving my kids in and out of university, rented properties etc.
Finally, I've never met a car that is so light on it's tyres. After 56k miles it's still on it's original Michelin rears.
Other than the aforementioned starting/fuel economy issue nothing whatsoever has gone wrong with the car in the time we've owned it.
At the price we paid for it, at the age we got it, I'd definitely recommend this car as a second-hand buy. I just wouldn't buy a new one!
