Great Car!

I fell in love with the Mazda 6 looks when it first came out and was able to fine a great deal on a new car. My previous car was a Honda Accord diesel, so I miss the mid range torque you get with a diesel engine. That said, the Mazda has ample acceleration and its top speed of 132 mph is interesting but still to be reached this side of a race track. Motorway cruising is effortless and the head-up display one of the most useful innovations I have come across. Newer version of the 6 show the speed limit on the head-up but personally I would have preferred a gear number indication display (it comes up on the bottom of the speedometer dial). The car handles magnificently but there is a fair amount of tyre noise. Having done 27500 miles from new, my Mazda 6 still runs on its original tyres, but they getting getting low on mm now.The boot space is cavernous - really useful when four of us went on a tour of Ireland. The Bose sound system is first class, as is the Bluetooth connectivity. My biggest grumble though is the sat nav system. It works well most of the time but sod's law it fails when you need it most - the blue arrow shows you to be anything up to a mile from your actual location! This led to some interesting moments driving aimlessly around Dublin trying to reach the ferry port. The only remedy is to stop the car and switch off the engine so that the sat nav car resets itself. The other issue with the sat nav is that it sometimes doesn't recognize the post code or town you are trying to enter .- and yes, I have used up my three years of free updates. The only other issue was a clunk under the bonnet every time I went over a road bump. This was found to be a problem with one of the suspension bushes and was put right (twice - two years running) under the three year guarantee. Oh - and I found that rodents really love the wiring looms and are happy to chew through them!! But niggles apart, I love the car and even persuaded my daughter and her hubby to buy one too.
