Overall reliability

Pure refinement based on quality in depth.

If you are seeking a tin-top convertible ( and there are serious reasons why you would) then you need look no further.

This Lexus is the most refined and well thought through of them all. I have owned Mercedes tin-tops and thouroughly evaluated the BMW and Volvo versions. They have some good points but simply fade away when you try the IS for an afternoon!

It is not the fastest and it is not the most economical.

But it rides supremely, is seriously quiet and reeks quality. It also has a remarkably high level of standard kit....just try costing out the same from the German cars!

Watch Honest John's video. That exactly sums up what I have found.

Drive it hard and mpg is sub 30. Drive it 'with the traffic' and I get 38mpg. At steady speeds it is even better.

Depeciation is very good and Lexus reliability is magical.........my RX400h hybrid is well into its fifth year and hasn't had a bolt tightened up yet!

Time can now judge its long term value.
