Is it worth spending money on repairing a 2004 Citroen Xsara Picasso?
When you have an old car, it’s always a problem to decide at what point it no longer worth spending money on. My friend's 2004 Citroen Picasso (in good condition inside and out) needs a new clutch. She was quoted about £500. For her, the car has been ideal - reliable, economical, good access and visibility and a huge luggage space (especially with the rear seats removed). Would you advise she gets the repair and keeps it for a few more years, or replace it now? If you think it more prudent to replace it, what would you advise on a budget of under £4000?

In my opinion, the original Citroen Xsara Picasso was a brilliant MPV. Very spacious - five seats, three separate rear seats independently configurable. Very reliable 2.0 HDI diesel engine capable of immense mileages (if properly maintained). But its bugbear is body rot. So any rust anywhere that could be starting to become structural then the best thing to do is use a scrappage scheme to swap out of the car. No rust, get the clutch replaced and soldier on.
