A car I sold was modified by the buyer - am I liable now it's damaged?

I'm a sole trader who recently sold an Audi A3. The buyer said they were having it remapped even though I told them it would void any warranty on the engine, clutch and gearbox. Subsequently, almost straight away it blew up. He now wants his money back, to which I have refused. Am I in the wrong and liable for a refund?

Absolutely not. He made unsuitable modifications to the car that wrecked it. Tell him you are happy for him to take his case to Small Claims where you will vigorously defend your position.
