Does the cost of buying an electric vehicle include battery leasing?

Please can you help to clarify the cost of buying a nearly new (less than one year old) electric vehicle. Does the price indicated assume that you own the battery or is there a hidden cost due to battery leasing?

Depends which you are buying. Battery leasing is common on recent Renault and Nissan, so you need to establish exactly what you are getting with either of these makes. Not generally a problem with other EVs and older Renault and Nissan. Some, such as the Renault Fluence, are seriously cheap, but the reason for that is the potential to have to replace the batteries at enormous cost. A hybrid or a plug-in hybrid probably makes more sense.

If you cover no more than 100 miles per day and have easy access to a charging point at home or work, then an EV is ideal for you.
