Why can't I start my Fiat Fiorino with the key?

I have 2010 FIAT Fiorino MultiJet. It will turn over with the key and will start if push started, but will not start with the key.

Failed glowplugs. Push starting creates compression ignition (and probably a lot of smoke) but for the engine to start on the key the glowplugs need to glow and create ignition.
