Recommend an estate car for under £2000 to carry four kayaks?

I am looking for a first car, around the £1000-£2000 mark. It has to be able to carry four kayaks on the roof and seat four passengers, and possibly even sleep two in the boot. Ideally I would like an estate car with some guts behind it, but not enough to make the insurance huge. I am 20 years old and do not have the Pass Plus, or any no-claims history or prior convictions.

Ford Mondeo Mk II 1.8 or 2.0 petrol, for a lot less than your £1000. Just make sure it hasn't rusted in the sills just ahead of the rear wheels.
