Which car would you recommend as a workhorse and for towing a boat?

I currently drive a Toyota RAV4 and have been extremely happy with its versatility, reliability and comfort. I need good legroom being 6-feet 3-inches. It has been a great workhorse, helping to move flat several times for my daughters and also tow and launch my Drascombe Dabber. It is now time to change and I am faced with a myriad choices of similar type. What would you recommend from those available? Honda, Ford, Kia, Vauxhall, Hyundai, Toyota etc all produce models that are very alike. With a £15,000 to £18,000 budget for secondhand, where should I go next?
