What is causing a 'ferrous' smell to come from my Honda Jazz automatic?

I have a Honda Jazz i-VTEC ES with the variant automatic gearbox. Recently when I get out of the car there has been a strong aroma, which I can only describe as a ferrous smell, the sort you get when you have been burning a clutch out. But this car is automatic. I took it to a Honda main dealer but he didn't think it was anything. It has now had its annual main service but the smell persists. Can you advise what it is and whether it is a problem, as my warranty expires in three months.

If this is a Jazz i-shift automated manual, which at three years old I suspect it is, then it could well be the clutch.
