Should we buy a supercharged or turbocharged MINI?

My wife would like a MINI Cooper S and I've been told that some were supercharged and others turbocharged. Which, in your opinion, is the better option? We will have about £7000 to spend.

The R53 from 2002 to 2007 has a supercharged chain-cam engine based on a South American Chrysler engine and the R56 from 2007 has a turbocharged chain-cam Peugeot/Citroen engine. Newer is better. It's all here in detail: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/mini/
