Why has my Clio suffered an expensive "pump break-up" fault?
I have a 2006 Renault Clio 1.5 diesel. I have been told I have "pump break-up" so metal particles are everywhere. I need two new injectors and two need overhaul, and also a new pump, pipes and the fuel tank needs draining and cleaning, which totals approximately 11 hours of labour. The cost will be £2005 plus VAT. I have been told the car is worthless as part-exchange. Does the above sound feasible to you?

If they mean fuel injection pump break-up from having filled with petrol, then it makes sense. That’s why they have to also drain and clean the fuel tank.
