Can you recommend a French equivalent to the Ford Mondeo Estate?

I have sold my house in Spain and I am moving to France. Can you please tell me if there is a French estate car that can compare favourably with the new Ford Mondeo estate for price and spec and space? I have heard some bad things about the French Ford Mondeo.

Recently I saw a current model 30-month-old Mondeo 2.0TDCI Zetec estate with 142,000 miles on it at auction. Having averaged 1,000 miles a week it had not had much of a chance to be unreliable. And they are built in Belgium, not France. But the obvious French alternative is a Citroen C5 estate, with the same diesel engine range as the Mondeo and exceptionally good looks.
