Which automatic 7-seat MPV would you recommend for a large family?

Our son has just announced that we are going to become grandparents again, so a we need a larger car, really a 7-seater so we can all go out as a family. It must be automatic and not too large, so a Zafira fits the bill but is only available with the 1.8 engine and Easytronic, or the diesel which is a bit over our budget of £8000. We also don’t do enough miles to justify the diesel. The 2.2-litre petrol is a bigger engine than we need and more expensive to run. What do you think?

Try to get hold of an ex-Addison Lee Ford Galaxy 2.0TDCI 6-speed auto. Any colour you like as long as it's black.
